We noticed a few people wearing distinctive bracelets at this year’s Seafood Expo North America in Boston. Turns out they are from an organization called 4Ocean and they are designed to draw attention to a serious problem – plastic pollution in our oceans.

The bracelets themselves are meant to act as a conversation starter – we bought a dozen to help engage people in conversation about plastics but also to support the work the 4Ocean is doing around the world.

Profits from the bracelets (which feature beads made from recycled plastic) are used to fund the removal of trash from oceans and coastlines around the world. According to 4Ocean they have removed 4,514,121 pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines over the last 2 years.

4ocean currently operates out of multiple countries and employs over 150 people worldwide.
