GULF & SOUTHERN SPECIES (DOMESTIC AND IMPORTED)
GROUPER
Availability is steady to improving in the US but tighter in Mexico and South America
Expensive but trending slightly upwards for imports
Whole Mexican Blacks, Scamp, Red in stock.
Domestic Red & Black Grouper - more availability with the Carolinas open but still expensive due to demand for Memorial Day weekend
MAHI MAHI
H&G Fish from Guatemala, Ecuador, and Costa Rica arrived this weekend with much better pricing. Dayboat local Mahi Mahi starting to show up in the Carolinas but still a little expensive.
Prices are steady this week so take advantage because the full moon will cause prices to increase.
TUNA
Good Availability with pricing more reasonable.
Domestic and Central American suppliers shipping ample supplies this week
Great sushi quality arriving daily and available; prices for this grade also trending downward.
TILEFISH
Golden and Gray Tile from Maryland & New Jersey coming
Good alternative to Grouper
Steady prices
SWORDFISH
Great fish on hand but the price is escalating rapidly with Memorial Day demand.
Limited landings this week as the boats fish the full moon in the Gulf, North Atlantic, Costa Rica and Panama.
GENUINE GULF RED SNAPPERS
Domestic Gulf Reds are tight & expensive due to demand & weather but we have a small boatload coming into us tomorrow.
Beautiful Genuine Gulf Red Snapper from Mexico arriving today and Wednesday.
Significantly lower pricing on the same species from south of the border.
OTHER SNAPPER FROM GULF STREAM WATERS
Blackfins- Gulf Red’s closest cousin, some in with more due. Eats about the same but at a much lower cost.
Yellow Eyes-A few on hand with more on Wednesday.
B-Liners-Some from Mexico on hand at good pricing. The Carolinas are landing good supplies of local fish when boats can get out but they will be very expensive.
DOTTED SNAPPER
Both 2/4 and 4/6 lb fish on hand with steady pricing. More, possibly, by the end of the week
YELLOWTAIL SNAPPERS
Imports are available pricing steady. Domestic boats are out fishing
MUTTON SNAPPER
Some on hand from weekend deliveries with a little more on Wednesday. A good value snapper.
ESCOLAR
Fish in house
Steady price
CORVINA
Nice fish available
Price is very reasonable especially on Shortfin Corvina
CHILEAN SEABASS
Only frozen at sea product so far this week
AMBERJACK
Plentiful. Key West fishery has re-opened.
Good pricing.
POMPANO
No wild so far but farmed available
SPECKLE TROUT
Very few showing locally pricing up
SPANISH MACKERAL
Good quality available from the Gulf. Suitable for sushi & some 2-4’s available
SHEEPHEAD
Louisiana season over as boats gear up for shrimp season.
Scarce and expensive.
DRUM
Very little coming in because boats gearing up for shrimp. A few large bulls from Lake Pontchartrain on hand
WRECKFISH
None in house, may have some coming later this week
BARREL FISH
It is a by- catch of Wreckfish boats so pre order by letting sales person know you want it when it arrives.
TRIGGERFISH
Carolinas open but most boats have switched to Grouper fishing
Very expensive and little available
WAHOO
A little in house from Ecuador. Catch is picking up so price could fall.
FLOUNDER
Extremely tight and expensive everywhere
Gulf Fluke has little production; Mid Atlantic quotas are done;
New England fish are super expensive; and Mexican is also tight
Prices are high but we getting some day boat Black Backs and cutting fish to order for better quality.
FAS Flounder is a lower price alternative
PORGIES
Lots available at great prices and bringing in more as demand increases. Please let your sale person know your interest is this tasty value fish. Great fish at a great price. Pre-orders needed
STONE CRABS
Season Closed on the 15th. Due to re-open October 15th.
CRABMEAT
Sparse domestic product & expensive
Imports coming from Columbia and Venezuela
WILD SHRIMP
Season is open in various areas of Louisiana and whole Atlantic Seaboard.
Fresh shrimp arriving this week. Prices are very high
FRESH SOFT SHELLS
More available but still rather expensive. Cooler water temperatures causing crabs to keep their clothes (shells) on producing a delayed molting. Southern Atlantic states; North & South Carolina, Georgia and VA shed has not happened because of cooler weather keeping crabbers ashore.
Prices are moderating somewhat but Memorial day demand is keeping them higher than normal.
We expect better pricing after the full moon next week.
CRAWFISH
Season is strong in Louisiana.
Prices down on live, cooked, and fresh crawfish tail meat.
Pre-orders are mandatory on Live and encouraged on cooked and tail meat.
EAST COAST & MID ATLANTIC
LOBSTER
Prices are beginning to ease a bit. Memorial Day demand is causing pricing to be steady instead of falling.
Many restaurants using Chicks (1-1-1/8 lb) instead of larger more expensive 2-4 lb lobsters at less money.
FRESH RHODE ISLAND SQUID
Getting 3 shipments per week of cleaned fresh cleaned tubes & tentacles
Whole, all tentacles, and all Tubes on pre-order.
SCALLOPS
All natural scallops in house and now graded from boat bags
MUSSELS
A good supply of PEI Mussels due in house tomorrow
BLACK BASS
Small shot of Large and JumboExpensive, but beautiful fish

COD
New England’s severely restricted quotas are making local fish crazy expensive. We are now bringing in H&G very large Cod from Scotland & Norway 4-12 pound fish and cutting to order. Some 2-4 pound fillets available.
Huge fish and great quality; FAS in stock for more moderate pricing.
HADDOCK
First Whole Fresh Norwegian product arrived to universal applause last week with another shipment coming tomorrow. Head-on 4-7 pound beauties. Hand cutting to order. Also FAS fillets in stock at lower prices

MONKFISH
Large Tails on hand from Rhode Island and Massachusetts, from small dayboats.Great value now.

Product is a great buy this week but will be up in price in the weeks to come as boats switch to Wild Salmon.

Alaskan Troll Red & White Kings coming tomorrow.
Copper River opened on the 16th with first of the season very limited Kings and Sockeyes now in house.
Prices are very high even on Sockeyes but great quality.
More fish from Monday night opener due on Thursday night.
Copper River Kings now sold out but more Sockeyes arriving tomorrow.
Marble Kings ,a natural wild cross between white &red meat kings were a great hit last week with a few more coming but prices are up on these too.
