Round-the-Clock Quality Assurance

Our quality story goes back to the days when Inland Seafood’s President, Joel Knox, sold fish out of the back of a pickup truck 30 years ago. Knox knew that his only chance for success was to make sure that everything he sold was more fresh and of better quality than his customers could find from any other fish monger.

Much has changed in those three decades, but Inland Seafood will never compromise its commitment to providing customers with the finest quality product at the best price.

Long before it was federally mandated, we employed an HAACP inspector full-time. Today, our Department of Quality Assurance maintains round-the-clock compliance with HAACP and all other relevant government agencies. In addition, our own full-time microbiology lab focuses on environmental testing — checking for bacteria and histamines, for example.

We process fresh fish in our state-of-the-art facilities, which run seven days a week. From late Saturday to Sunday afternoon, we close the lines down for service and maintenance. We’re proud to boast that the average length of employment of our processors is over five years. Our tuna cutter has been practicing his highly refined craft with us for more than 15 years.

Other processes that ensure our product integrity:

  • Traceability–All Inland products are given lot numbers and can be traced from the source (shipper, harvester, etc.) to the customer.
  • Julian dating system–First-in, first-out.
  • Temperature monitoring–All rooms are 40º or below (depending on product) and are monitored 24/7/375.
  • Product-specific rooms–Restricted access to prevent contamination.
  • Vacu-sealing and heat-sealing–Protects integrity of product
