Pacific White Marlin (Loin Only)



Other Names: White Marlin (Japan), Silver Marlin (Hawaii), Black Marlin, Makaira Indica

Identification & Biology: with a maximum weight about 2,000 pounds, the black marlin has an elongated body that in larger species can be in excess of 4 m long, a spear like snout, and a long rigid dorsal fin which extends forwards to form a crest. Marlin are fast swimmers, occurring in all seas and hunting small and large fish.

Range & Habitat: tropical waters worldwide

Market Description:  The marlin is a large game fish. It Very strong and exceptionally fast fish which can test not only the angler and tackle but also the entire crew. Can sprint along the surface, and then run deep which often causes the line to break due to water pressure.

Buying Tips: Marlin are rarely table fare.

Note: Most modern sport fishermen release marlin after unhooking.
