Nile Perch

Other Names: Mbuta - Africa

Identification & Biology: freshwater fish. Silver in color with a blue tinge. It has distinctive black eyes with yellow rings around the outside. It is one of the largest freshwater fish, and can grow to measure more than 6 feet in size, weighing up to 440 lbs.

Range & Habitat: Widespread throughout Africa, being native to the Congo, Nile, Senegal, Niger and Lake Chad, Volta and lake Turkana among other river basins.
